Float Ecosystem Survey

Float Ecosystem Survey

Float is a new participatory funding lab focused on the open ag-tech ecosystem. We’re launching a small pilot funding round this spring to experiment with participatory patterns that could support the field more broadly. To ground our work in the needs of this community, we’re seeking your input on how we can best leverage our resources—financial and otherwise—to support both individual projects and the ecosystem as a whole.

Float Ecosystem Survey

How to Provide Input

To better interpret responses and identify patterns across the ecosystem, we’d first like to know a bit about your role and context. If you've already completed the demographic survey skip down to the polis, if not, we've got 6 quick questions for you below.

The next section is a collective conversation space. You’ll see statements from others and can vote on whether you agree, disagree, or feel unsure. You can also add your own.

Our question for you is three-fold:
– What do you need to do your best work?
– What does the open ag-tech ecosystem need to thrive?
– What shared infrastructure, practices, or values should we prioritize?

Now we'd love to hear your perspective and see where others agree or diverge.

How to use Polis

Above, you’ll find a collection of statements submitted by others in the ecosystem. You can anonymously*  add to the collection with your own standalone statements and vote on statements submitted by others. We encourage you to engage with this process honestly and openly.

*Polis gives each participant a random ID so it can group similar viewpoints. As moderators we can see how an anonymous participant has voted, but will not be able to see your identity.

Fill out the demographic survey!

  1. Go through the Polis statements already submitted and select “Agree”, “Disagree” or “Pass/Unsure” (if you have no opinion or if it doesn’t make sense to you) on each statement. Voting is anonymous

  2. Add your own statements, anonymously. There are no direct replies, so each statement should make sense in isolation. However, if you see an idea that isn't quite right, we encourage building on it by posting your own idea with a slight modification

  3. As more people participate, Polis will show a live-updating 'opinion space' of the conversation

Polis works best when we all say what we really think and need rather than broad, generic statements (even if it might stir the pot).
